Oh. My. Gosh. Yesterday was super. Let me recap:
Me and my cousin arrived at Galle a little before 4pm, two hours before Sponge Cola was supposed to perform. I had noticed that there was already crowd gathered around the fountain area, so we made our way over there at 4. Iya, a VJ of Myx, and Zach, drummer of the band Imago, were the hosts and could be seen at the huge screen interviewing a bunch of people about this new online RPG game they were promoting. Then they made their way up to the stage to introduce the first band that would be performing for the day, Mayonnaise. It was the first time that I heard them, and I must say that they truly deserved winning this big battle of the bands thingy (click here to listen to some songs; recommendation: The Only Thing That I Will Miss When I Die Is You). They were awesome. :)

After their performance, a bunch of games were conducted by the hosts, and by this time, I had inched my way about two rows from the stage, armed with my digicam. ;) Armo *squeals* had emerged from backstage at that time, fixing the pedals or whatever it is that guitarists step on when they perform live, and at the sight of him, lots of girls around me started saying “Look, it’s Armo!” and all that. Then everybody else went out, and the girls started screaming out Yael, which was the name of the vocalist. And then Sponge Cola was introduced, and they started performing.

Man, Sponge Cola was super. It was friggin’ amazing, having to watch them for free. Lol. :P I took a crapload of pics, about 115 I think. *squeals* Am so obsessed with them right now. Eeeeeeeeeeee. I can’t believe I’m loving a local band this much, to tell you guys the truth. *sighs dreamily* I’ll probably go to another gig of theirs Saturday of next week at a venue that’s much nearer to my house with my friends from RCSHS who happen to love them as well. Can’t wait. :D Can’t have enough of Sponge Cola lately, it’s kinda weird. Lol. But then again, that’s how I am when it comes to something I love, so I guess that’s good. :)

I also found out that Sponge Cola paid for everything just to get their album, Palabas, recorded and released, and that the only job of Sony Music PH is to make sure that their albums get delivered to record bars. I think that it’s so neat, even if it is common knowledge that they all came from Ateneo and are rich, ’cause they all spent money from their own pockets just to get their music out. Now that’s true dedication, which makes me love them even more. *heart*

I couldn’t help laughing when I read his interview with Yael & Armo. Lol. It’s in Filipino, though, so yeah. :P I’m on a Sponge Cola rant spree, I kinda noticed, but whatever. XD I can’t help it that I’m loving them so badly. ;) *starts singing* Hee. Thanks muchly to Nens for persuading me to give Sponge Cola a second chance ’cause I never paid much attention to them when I listened to their album. That’s how I am: whenever I have a new CD, I listen to it while I do my homework or whatever, so I can never fully appreciate their music. Heh. :P But now look at me. I’m like a teeny now, lol. Only in my blogs and with my friends, though. I can never act like a teeny-slash-groupie in public. It would be disturbing. Lol. ;)
You’re all probably very much tired about my Sponge Cola dedicated post, so I’ll stop here. ^^ Hee. I truly am sorry that I sound so weird when I’m on fan!girly mode. XD

I’m guessing that they’re a really great band because I just read from someone else’s site their dream that revolved around the lead singer of this band. LOL.
Looks and sounds like you had fun!

Hi Keng! :D Thanks for commenting on my site. And I totally understand what you’re saying about old houses, I thought I’d be really paranoid too, but it wasn’t like that at all. (Thankfully!)

Dammit, Sponge Cola..LOL. Aww, I’m so unlucky to live VERY far from Metro Manila. BTW, were you able to tune it to RT, they were there the other night (or last nigt) I don’t remember.. My OL friends were telling me that it was so cool and stuff.
That ’s what so cool about Sponge Cola, it’s all in their expense…You know, an Indie band, but hell, they still managed to conquer the airwaves..
